Apple introduced the “Hey Siri” command to summon the virtual assistant with iOS 8 back in 2014. This feature, which sparked a lot of curiosity at the time, has become widely known today, even among Android users.
After a long period of leaked information, Apple made the surprising decision to replace the “Hey Siri” command with just “Siri.” While iPhone users were initially taken aback by this change, they eventually began to adapt, as is often the case with such alterations. However, the word “Siri” has become a source of annoyance for one woman.
Siri Price, a woman living in Scotland, revealed that whenever her friends call her, the voice assistants on nearby iPhones start responding. Furthermore, as a sports coach whose name is constantly mentioned in her line of work, Price said that people who learned about the situation couldn’t use her name, and she constantly gets frustrated because of this.
Even if Siri doesn’t have her own iPhone with her, when someone addresses her by her name, the nearby phones still respond to the command. In this case, people have to use expressions like “you” or “your” instead. Consequently, it seems like Siri has no choice but to change her name.
